Introduction

Hola! 

My name is Vania Ivonne Vargas B and I am a Graduated Industrial designer from Mexico.

My artistic experience:  

I learned to make Silver jewellery in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in 2002 and 2003.

I had a little workshop in Toluca, Mexico, were I used to design, produce and sell exclusive pieces produced by my sister and I. 

I moved to Vancouver in 2007 and here I have worked mainly with some small Graphic design projects.

As artist since 2001,  I have practice and developed a technique called:

Repousse work...

I use aluminum foil (By "carving" the foil) and I mix it with a technique of painting a background with acrylic paint. I get to expand the foil by doing pressure with special tools and I get a main figure in 3D on the metal's surface, then I cut it and paste it according to the background already planned. 

Repousse work is great to decorate walls, objects like bottles, old guitars, music boxes, chairs, bed frames,  cabinets, doors, or whatever you want to paint & decorate. 

I started doing it on hard canvas and later on top of other surfaces creating a scene, frame, decoration, pattern or texture.

Since I was 5 years old I developed my skills drawing and working with different materials, (doing sketches, clay sculptures, mache paper, oil painting, acrylic painting, pencil-pen drawings, charcoal, water paint, mixed techniques, etc). During my studies I learned to work with wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, papers, hand tools and machines.
